Reserving and Purchasing a Puppy
Please discuss with your family what adding a puppy to your household will mean. Puppies bring great joy to a home, but they also require your commitment. In addition to meeting a puppy's basic needs, you must be prepared to train the puppy. We urge puppy parents to take their puppy to obedience classes or to enlist the services of a private trainer. Another excellent option is the online training program, Baxter and Bella. If you wish to subscribe to Baxter and Bella, you can use our code for a discount: WINDYHILLDOODLES. The first months the puppy is in your home and his interactions with you and your family will establish the foundation for all subsequent learning.
Once you have decided that you are ready for a puppy and that you want a "designer" Poodle-cross puppy, you are welcome to complete and submit the form on the contact page. We will respond in one to two days. If you don't hear from us, please call , text, or e-mail, as it is easy to lose track of inquiries when there are so many. Visitors are always welcome.
We accept non-refundable $300 deposits for all expected litters. Deposits secure your place on a litter's wait list and are credited toward the amount due at pickup. You are welcome to move your deposit to another litter if you do so at least six weeks in advance of the going-home date for the initial litter of choice. In that event, there may be a price change. Positions are determined by the date deposits or transfers are made. An exception to this might occur when there are not enough puppies for those with reservations on one litter; those buyers have the choice of receiving a refund or of moving their deposit to the next litter (same breeding), in which case they would have priority if their deposit was made on an earlier date. Deposits may be made via Venmo, Zelle, or by mailing a check.
We will send photos of puppies as they develop and change. When puppies are eight weeks old, we will have a selection and pick-up day or weekend. Buyers will be scheduled to come in order, and everyone will have an hour to meet, play with and choose the family's puppy.
Until your puppy is fully vaccinated, the risk of contracting the deadly canine parvo virus can be high, depending on the area in which you live. Your veterinarian is the best source for assessment of risk in your area, but until you know for sure, we urge extreme caution. This means your puppy must be quarantined from any exposure to other dogs or places other dogs may have been. A healthy, vaccinated dog can still carry the virus and infect your puppy. The virus can live in the ground for 10 years. The only place 100% safe is your own home and yard. Families with resident dogs will also have to quarantine them as well. At the time of going home at eight weeks of age, your puppy will have had a parvo only vaccination at 6 weeks, and a combination vaccination that includes parvo just prior to going home. Three more combo vaccinations spaced approximately three weeks apart are required before your puppy is completely protected.
Your puppy will have a file that includes a contract and one-year health guarantee (genetic or congenital defects), a veterinary health certificate, a vaccination and de-worming record, copies of the parent's genetic testing, and AKC or CKC papers as relevant.
